Heritage Projects & Thanksgiving

To celebrate Thanksgiving we made Pumpkin-Pie-in-a-Cup. We loved it!
In December we will begin our unit on Christmas Around the World. To kick start things, students were asked to interview a family member to find out about their Heritage. Here are the projects, which include a doll they were to dress in their culture's customs.

Learning Words is Fun

We used shaving cream to practice writing our long i spelling words. We sure had fun!
To make learning our high frequency words more fun, we added them to checkers to play an old fashioned game. Some of us already new how to play and some played for the first time.

Animals, Tame and Wild

The 1st graders just finished our first unit: Animals, Tame and Wild. We learned about how people can help animals and how animals help people. We wrapped up the unit by completing Animal Reports. The students picked whichever animal they wanted and did research to share with the class.
