Biography Projects

Students did a phenomenal job rewriting biographies on Famous People of their choice.  They used google docs to publish these biographies.  At home, students created a visual presentation to share with other students.  Thank you to families for helping students at home.  The projects were outstanding!  Other classmates enjoyed each presentation and students had the opportunity to share with all the students in 2nd grade during a 'Biography Museum'.

Valentine's Day Party

A huge THANK YOU to Mrs. Frame and all the other wonderful parent volunteers & those who donated items for our Valentine's party.  Students had a grant time playing games, decorating (and eating) cupcakes, making crafts, and reading their valentine's.
This was by far the best behaved group of students I've ever had for a party. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Recycling Project Based (PBL) Learning Activity

Part of 2nd Grade's Go Green PBL was to create a Public Service Announcement to air on GRE's morning news.  The driving question behind the project was
How can you teach other students at General Rosecrans Elementary to recycle here at school?
Ask your child what his/her job was on their team (project manager, recorder, researcher, reporter, or assistant manager).
The following are each team's Public Service Announcement. A panel of judges will choose switch PSA to air on the GRE news. We'll keep you posted!

COSI on Wheels

The Incredible Human Machine is designed to enhance students’ ability to make decisions that will improve their long term well-being. The program consists of a 45 minute interactive assembly followed by exciting hands-on activities that engage the students and encourage the development of Science Process Skills. During the assembly, the following concepts and more were explored: • Examining the importance of the nervous system • Exploring how food fuels the human body • Identifying that exercise keeps the body strong

Thanks so much to our PTO and parent volunteers for making this even possible!
