On Friday, September 25th we celebrated the birthday of Johnny Appleseed. We read stories about John Chapman, created our own stories, put together number stories using apples, painted using apples as paint brushes, tasted several different apples to decide which was our favorite, drank cider from a local orchard, and played "cold apple" (apple version of hot potato).

We are having a great year so far! We have been working so hard with the following acitivites: reading, practicing our high frequency words by playing "scoobie doo", working in our literacy stations, painting, nibbling numbers (with pretzels), dancing to our phonics chant, playing language arts games and listening to stories on the computer, practicing spelling words using magnetic letters and playing "heads up, spell up" to name a few. Last week we earned our first rewards party. We celebrated by making rice krispie treats and watching Ice Age: The Meltdown.
