2nd Grade Science Day-Friday, March 21, 2014

Students are invited, but not required to participate in Science Day by sharing a simple experiment with the class.  We would like them to use vocabulary from the Scientific Method that is described on the below.  We will be doing practice projects in class to help the students become more familiar with the procedure.  We have a lot of materials at school with suggestions for simple projects and the Community Library is also a great resource, along with Pinterest.   

-This should be an enjoyable activity to get the children excited about science.

-If any parents would like to share how they use science in their life, we would love to have you come in and talk to the class.

COSI On Wheels

COSI came to GRE today-thanks to PTO and fundraisers.  Students learned about weather through the program called Current Conditions.  Please talk with your child about what he/she learned and visit the website below.

Acrostic Name Poems

This week we read the story, My Name is Gabriela.  The target skill was understanding characters by telling more about them.  We learned that Gabriela loved writing poems.  Our class brainstormed a list of things they loved, then turned them into acrostic name poems.  They enjoyed being creative and sharing their poems with the class.

Valentine's Party

Thank you, parent volunteers and those to donated items for our party.  The students had a great time making crafts and decorating cookies!
